About LikeLocal

LikeLocal is an independent guide to São Miguel, the largest island of the Azores. It is a young project and an experiment: we want to find out whether honest, specific, well-structured guides are more useful than another list of top ten attractions.

How the guides are made: factual base from Wikivoyage and OpenStreetMap, field notes from public travel sources, and traveller reports gathered from Reddit. A language model drafts the text from those facts only; places named in the guides come from the mapped dataset. Prices and opening hours change, so we say when a figure is indicative.

What we are not: a tour operator, a booking site or an official tourism body. We do not sell anything yet. If we add affiliate links one day, they will be labelled.

Local review: guides are being reviewed by people who live on the island. Where a guide has not been reviewed yet, treat it as a well-organised starting point, not a final word.
